EENV 620. Using Childrens Literature to Teach Environmentally. 4 Units.

In-depth study of childrens literature as it applies to both classroom and outdoor settings. Emphasis on evaluating literature for environmental concepts and utilizing strategies for interdisciplinary instruction. Formerly EENV 670E.

EENV 635. Environmental Education in the Curriculum. 4 Units.

An introductory course on integrating into the curriculum environmental concepts and values concerning the relationship of people with their natural and physical surroundings. Review of curricula, conceptual frameworks, resources and methods.

EENV 636. Teaching Current Environmental Issues. 2 Units.

Prerequisite/Corequisite: EENV 635
Examines local relevant environmental issues and teaching strategies that can assist in understanding and analyzing these issues. Formerly EENV 670A.

EENV 642. Developing the Curriculum through Outdoor Education. 4 Units.

Prerequisites: EENV 635
Procedures and instructional materials for teaching out of doors and the integration of environmental education into the curriculum. Includes program development for resident outdoor school.

Prerequisites: EENV 635
Application of teaching resources and environmental issues. Survey of resource agencies. Organized visits to educational sites.

Independent graduate research conducted under the guidance of a program advisor and resulting in a written thesis.

EENV 999. Comprehensive Examination. 0 Units.

Prerequisites: advancement to candidacy, approval of program coordinator, in last quarter of coursework or completed coursework for the program, and a 3.0 grade point average or higher in courses in program plan
An assessment of the student's ability to integrate the knowledge of environmental education, show critical and independent thinking and demonstrate mastery of the subject matter.
