Includes historical, legal, and educational foundations of bilingual education; first and second language acquisition; structure of language; nonverbal communication; English language development; specially designed academic instruction in English; assessment and placement issues; and an examination of the role of verbal interaction in learning. Requires a ten-hour field component in an approved setting.).
