President's Welcome

Tomás D. Morales, Ph.D.

Welcome to Cal State San Bernardino!

The beauty of the campus is one of the first things that strikes our visitors and students.  With attractive buildings, park-like grounds, and expansive views of the foothills and San Bernardino Mountains, often snow-capped in the winter, CSUSB has a stunning aesthetic appeal that enriches the learning environment, inspiring all who visit our campus.

Our faculty are award-winning scholars, recognized both nationally and internationally for their academic contributions and teaching service.  And our highly trained staff, who rate among the very best in customer service surveys, share the same commitment to student success.  Working together, faculty and staff go above and beyond to foster a culture of excellence that embraces and empowers students.

CSUSB consistently earns recognition from both the Princeton Review and US News & World Report, the nation’s top college-rating entities, as one of the best universities in the West.

The "value added" by a CSUSB education ranks in the top 4 percent in the nation, according to independently conducted assessments measuring student learning and workplace readiness.

The university’s Student Success Initiative focuses on student advising and many other support services to help students gain success in and out of the classroom, all the way through to graduation and beyond.

CSUSB’s Veterans Success Center is a resource for our military personnel.  In fact, CSUSB was ranked by Military Times as number 1 in the state of California and number 8 in the U.S. as a 2016 “Best for Vets” college.

CSUSB has been named to the President’s Community Service Honor Roll for eight straight years—a testimony to the campus’s commitment to giving back.  In fact, CSUSB’s meaningful involvement in the community is a core aspect of our mission and is something demonstrated daily, from students who volunteer to serve as mentors, to large-scale service learning projects that benefit hundreds of citizens in the communities we serve.

These are just a few of the many ways in which CSUSB is committed to our students.

With nearly 50 undergraduate majors and more than 25 graduate programs, coupled with small classes offered at convenient times—all to meet the diverse needs of our student body—I’m certain CSUSB has a degree program that is right for you.

I can assure you that you will find a warm welcome and new friends here. CSUSB reflects the dynamic diversity of the region and has the most diverse student population of any university in the Inland Empire. In fact, when we surveyed the campus community, everyone told us that one of the things they appreciate most about our campus is its diversity.

This is an exciting time for Cal State San Bernardino.  I invite you to take a tour of our beautiful campus and to meet with our outstanding faculty, staff, and students, who can answer questions, offer advice, and provide you with one-on-one support.

Please visit www.csusb.edu or news.csusb.edu, our university news site, for more information.

I look forward to seeing you on campus.

Sincerely,

Tomás D. Morales, Ph.D.
