President's Welcome

Tomás D. Morales, Ph.D.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to California State University, San Bernardino, an institution committed to student success both in and out of the classroom.

Our university has a rich tradition of providing quality education in an environment that reflects the dynamic diversity of the region. Our outstanding faculty are award-winning scholars, highly recognized for their academic contributions and teaching. And our experienced staff are caring and courteous, dedicated to assisting with any questions or needs. Together, our faculty and staff foster a culture of excellence that embraces and empowers students.

I invite you to come and tour our spacious campus, nestled in the foothills of the picturesque San Bernardino Mountains. You’ll find it a warm and welcoming place with exceptional facilities and extensive resources that establish a world-class educational experience and which is home to the most diverse student population of any university in the Inland Empire.

With nearly 50 undergraduate majors and more than 25 graduate programs featuring small class sizes and extensive augmented learning opportunities such as internships, research and travel abroad, I am certain CSUSB has a degree program that is right for you.

CSUSB is annually recognized among the nation’s leading educational institutions by some of the premier published ratings, including U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review and Forbes. The Veteran’s Success Center provides essential resources to military personnel, with our university ranked number one in California and 18th nationally among four-year universities in the 2017 Military Times “Best for Vets” rating.

These are exciting times at Cal State San Bernardino. We are constructing the single largest development project in our history, a 164,000-square foot housing and dining complex that will accommodate 416 additional students and feature a two-level dining commons. It is just part of our new Campus Master Plan, a translation of the university’s mission, goals and vision into a roadmap for physical development and facility enhancement.

Whether you come visit us personally or review us online at, I hope you will look close at all we have to offer and reach out to connect with our faculty, staff or students. I assure you it will be time well spent.

I look forward to seeing you on campus.
